// Terms of Service
The short, plain-language rules for using Niska. In the same spirit as the rest of the site: no fine print we can't stand behind.

By using Niska you agree to these terms. Niska is a small, privacy-first toolkit for people who care about privacy.

Acceptable use

You are responsible for everything you upload, paste, or share. Do not use Niska to store, share, or link to content including, but not limited to:

  • Illegal content, including child sexual abuse material (CSAM).
  • Malware, phishing kits, or anything designed to harm or deceive others.
  • Spam, or automated abuse of the service (including the public submission forms).

Suspected abuse can be reported via the report form. Reports are reviewed by hand.

Content, removal, and accounts
  • Uploads and pastes can be set to expire or to be one-time.
  • We may remove content and suspend or delete accounts that break these terms, without notice, to keep the service safe.
  • We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of Niska at any time.
  • Deleting your account removes all your account data and the content you uploaded.
  • We reserve the right to refuse service, suspend, or terminate accounts when necessary to protect the service, or prevent abuse.
No warranty & availability

Niska is provided "as is", with no warranty of any kind, and your use of it is at your own risk. We do our best to keep it running and your data intact, but we make no guarantee of availability or durability: this is a self-hosted service, backups are taken but recovery is best effort, and data can be lost. Keep your own copy of anything you can't afford to lose. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss arising from your use of the service.

Privacy

What we collect and why is described plainly in How it works and the security notes. In short: we keep what we need to run the service and nothing we don't, and the privacy tools that say "nothing leaves your browser" mean it.

Changes

These terms may change as the service evolves. The current version always lives on this page. Continuing to use Niska after a change means you accept the updated terms.
